Assessment
Class AssessmentEvent

This class describes the performance of an assessment of a particular aspect of a patient’s condition. Such assessments employ a test or instrument, often a questionnaire, that quantify otherwise subjective observations. These instruments employ scoring systems which have been systemetized and validated. Standardized assessment tools create scores and (sometimes) sub-scores which are then used to determine the optimal placement and treatment plans for the patient and to track patient progress over time. Standardized assessment tools facilitate the collection of accurate information in a reliable and consistent manner, provide clinicians and treatment agencies with increased accountability, identify patient progress over time, and provide a basis to adjust treatment plans.

«CS» Code totalScoreConcept totalScoreConcept

Many assessment instruments assign numeric values to potential responses, where the total value of the responses can be used to assert conclusions regarding the condition of the patient, and to decide upon a care or treatment plan to meet the needs of the client/patient. For example, the Morse Fall Scale arrives at one of three conclusions regarding the patient's risk of an accidental fall based on the score: 0-24 means "no risk", 25-45 means "low to moderate risk", and a score over 46 means "high risk". This property contains a code linking the meaning of the concept being measured (by the score) to a standard vocabulary. In other words, in this example, this field will contain a LOINC code meaning "risk of falling".

«CS» Code totalScoreMeaning totalScoreMeaning

Many assessment instruments assign numeric values to potential responses, where the total value of the responses can be used to assert conclusions regarding the condition of the patient, and to decide upon a care or treatment plan to meet the needs of the client/patient. For example, the Morse Fall Scale arrives at one of three conclusions regarding the patient's risk of an accidental fall based on the score: 0-24 means "no risk", 25-45 means "low to moderate risk", and a score over 46 means "high risk". This property contains a code linking the meaning of the score to a standard vocabulary. In other words, in this example, this field will contain a LOINC code meaning either "no risk", "low to moderate risk", or "high risk".

«REAL» Decimal totalScoreValue totalScoreValue

Many assessment instruments assign numeric values to potential responses, where the total value of the responses can be used to assert conclusions regarding the condition of the patient, and to decide upon a care or treatment plan to meet the needs of the client/patient. For example, the Morse Fall Scale arrives at one of three conclusions based on the score: 0-24 means "no risk", 25-45 means "low to moderate risk", and a score over 46 means "high risk". This property contains the sum of the values based on the responses received. In other words, in this example, this field might contain "32" for a given patient at the time of the assessment. "32" would then be interpreted as the patient having a low to moderate risk of falling.
