Class Prothesis

A prosthesis is an artificial device to replace or augment a missing or impaired part of the body. This class represents a Device Instance that is utilized as a prosthesis. The VA's VistA system records a number of data elements that are retreivable from the Device Instance, so those properties are not repeated in this class. [FileMan 660,4.4->661]. Below is a list of those concepts:
The serial number of the issued or repaired appliance. [FileMan 660,9].
The manufacturer's product description of the device issued/to be issued to the Patient. This information is useful for recalls. [FileMan 660,9.1].
The manufacturer's product model number of the device issued/to be issued to the Patient. This information is useful for recalls. [FileMan 660,9.2].
The manufacturer's lot number of the item being furnished to the patient. [FileMan 660,21].
