This class identifies a clinician who has been assigned to or elected by the Patient for certain responsibilities. This relationship will typically be used to identify the patient's Primary Care Physician in outpatient situations or the Attending Physician in inpatient situations.

A Primary Care Provider is the doctor selected by the patient to be the first physician contacted for any medical problem. The doctor acts as the patient's regular physician and coordinates any other care the patient needs, such as a visit to a specialist or hospitalization.

An Attending Physician is the physician legally responsible for the patient's overall care while the patient is hospitalized. This physician will often direct other clinicians in regard to the patient's care.
